RRP $56.00
Kemenys Rating : 94/100
Value : dddd

Tasting Note :

There are rare moments when the glass is raised to the nose that the taster immediately knows that he is in the presence of a great wine - this is something special, a wine deserving world recognition. This Thomas " Kiss" Shiraz 2006 is one such wine, from the first earthy sniff through its rich savoury palate, underscored with just the right amount of oak/acid/tannin to its rich lingering finish, This wine is just right.

Anvers McLaren Vale Shiraz 2005

Kemenys Price : $19.99
RRP $24.00
Kemenys Rating : 94/100
Value : ddddd

Tasting Note :
The grapes for this wine were sourced from two vineyards at the southern end of McLaren Vale. Both these sites show unique aromas, flavours and structure that add complexity to this wine. 2005 was a great vintage in South Australia with a warm and steady ripening season giving great concentration of colour and flavour. Deep dark red in colour, the nose offers blackberry and prune fruit notes all supported by subtle vanilla and cedar accents.14 months maturation in French and American barriques has added supple tannins which all lead to a very long finish. Drink now but it will cellar for many years.

Balthazar Barossa Shiraz 2004

Kemenys Price : $44.99
RRP : $65.00
Kemenys Rating : 96/100
Value : ddddd

Tasting Note :

"Deep, dark core with bright crimson rim.  Deep, spice driven nose with chocolate, fruit cake with ripe, dark berry fruit following and  eventually coming to the fore.  Thick and creamy in the mouth with deep, rich, ripe full fruited flavours.  The most supple tannins imaginable with sweetest berry fruit possible.  Hauntingly seductive - dangerous for regular consumption! Great now but be fantastic in another five to six years."

Barwang Hilltops Shiraz 2007

Kemenys Price : $13.99
RRP : $19.99
Kemenys Rating : 94/100
Value : ddddd

Tasting Note :

"Macs' extensive Barwang vineyards are near Young within the relatively cool Hilltops region of New South Wales. Both the reds and whites have been consistently excellent in recent years, and the '07 shiraz earns a gold medal according to my card. Various black berry characters, some pepper and spice and fine, gentle, dry tannins amount to a lovely medium-bodied red deserving of a special meal. Worth decanting and breathing."

Brokenwood Rayner Shiraz 2005

Kemenys Price : $56.00
RRP :
Kemenys Rating :
Value :

Tasting Note :

The initial feature is the dense black/dark cherry colour. Maturation was in predominantly American oak and the distinctive vanillin lift compliments the ripe dark berry and mocha chocolate aromas of McLaren Vale Shiraz.  A full bodied mouthfeel.  Good viscosity and long flavours of plum, vanillin and charry notes.  An excellent finish and although these wines can be consumed in their youth, they do develop into rich, chocolate/earth McLaren Vale mature reds. The palate has strong `Turkish delight' characters balanced by subtle oak and grape tannins.

Charles Melton Barossa Valley Shiraz 05

Kemenys Price : $44.99
RRP : $52.00
Kemenys Rating : 94/100
Value : dddd

Tasting Note :

The 2005 wine displays beautiful bouquets, with a quirky mintiness thrown in. The palate is plush, almost pinot-like in its smoothness and roundness but with more vigour and weight. It has a core of intense flavours but with the richness resulting from 18 months of lees ageing in barriques. It is medium to full-bodied with good acidity evident.

Charles Melton Nine Popes 2006

RRP :
Kemenys Rating :

Tasting Note :

As always, shows that hint of trademark musk that denotes its grenache heritage, but that muskiness then combined with the earth and spice of the other two varieties (shiraz and mataro) gives a degree of complexity. Swirl this wine around in your mouth for a while to warm it up and release the other flavours... aniseed, sweet liquorice, cinnamon... A finer style, more 96' than 98'.

"Super stylish Heathcote shiraz. It's 14.5% alcohol but it does not intrude at all, the balance and profile of it seeming decidedly cool climate. Flavours of camphor, kirsch, cedarwood, bold bright blackberries and sandalwood. This is complex and delicious at once. Beautiful mouthfeel. Excellent length. This is a ripper. Drink: 2009-2016."

Elderton Command Shiraz 2004

Kemenys Price : $85.00
RRP   $95.00
Kemenys Rating : 98/100
Value :

Tasting Note :

"The 2004 shiraz "Command" comes from a single block of 104 year old vines. It was aged in 100 per cent new oak puncheons (400 litre barrels). Opaque purple coloured, this shiraz has fabulous aromatic of smoke, melted tar, licorice, espresso, game and blueberry compote. Layered but tight, this full-bodied wine is thick, rich and totally hedonistic. The finish lasts for 60 seconds. However, be warned. This monumental shiraz needs 10-15 years to fully unfold. It will provide pleasure through 2035."
