This delivers the goods on all counts. Textbook pinot aromas and flavours - full of ripe cherries, plums and a hint of strawberry. A layer of more savoury sour cherry, herbs and a gamey edge provide true pinot style. Fine tannins and bright acid quietly support the fruit, adding to the structure and freshness. Excellent pinot and a gift at the price. Have it with pork, game or even salmon.

Ravenshead wines are sourced from those regions recognised for varietal excellence. This Yarra Valley pinot noir is brilliant
crimson in colour, exhibiting an abundance of ripe fruit characters on the nose; strawberry and cherry, with well integrated French oak. The generous palate shows sweet fruit and fine tannins, and a lengthy finish. Drinking well now, this wine will continue to improve in bottle for five to eight years.

Cherry red in colour, with red brick hues, the nose is vibrant and fragrant displaying intense and pure varietal aromas of ripe black cherries and red currant. Spicy and earthy notes add an intriguing complexity to this wine's bouquet. A bright and flesh flavoured palate of ripe plum and dark cherry fruits intermingle with earthy, forest floor and spicy notes. These fleshy textured fruit characters wrap themselves around ripe, firm tannins which provide the palate's framework and length. The overall impression of the wine is one of subtlety, elegance and finesse.

Has some of the gaminess we look for in a top pinot. Forest, earth, toasty oak and silky tannins lurk with intent through to the long, lingering, satisfying finish. Lovely with rabbit.

Yes this is a nice release. It's tangy and varietal, has nice
texture and sound, fruity length. It says something about how far
Australian pinot noir has come, that we can (almost) take a wine
like this for granted. Once it probably would have caused a stir.
The centre is cherried, strawberried and sweet-sour, the finish
mineral and structured. Excellent drinking and worth buying.
