42 Degrees South Pinot noir 2008

Kemenys Price : $22.00
Kemenys Rating : 92/100
Value :

Tasting Note :
This is our 5th vintage here in the store and we are amazed how
consistent these wines are. The 2008 vintage conditions were kinder than the difficult 2007 and the team at 42. South certainly came through with this great Pinot. Pure red cherry and blackcurrant fruit aromas lead onto a palate of mixed berries all supported by maturation in fine Frenck oak. This will go with Tasmanian salmon on the bbq, great duck dishes and Italian sausages. It will cellar well for at least 5 years and is exceptional value.

Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2008

Kemenys Price : $75.00
Kemenys Rating :
Value :

Tasting Note :

bright, succulent, ripe red fruits create an inviting first
impression of this classic Ata Rangi. as the wine unfolds, delicate floral aromas emerge - think of dark, velvety roses - a fitting image for a wine with such luxuriously silky textural qualities. Tannins are very fine, very supple, allowing the wine to show lovely primary fruit on the nose at ths early stage. The long, long finish is laden with fruit weight and intensity that promises rewards from careful cellaring.2008 was a very favourable vintage in Martinborough, with moderate yields and ideal temperatures and weather conditions throughout the season.

Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2008

Kemenys Price : $29.99
Kemenys Rating :
Value :

Tasting Note :

An enticing nose of dark cherry with new season raspberry and wild mulberries. Hints of smoky clove and exotic spice enhance the rich flavours of sweet plum and black cherry that burst onto the palate. Very fine, supple tannins from fine French oak carry evenly right to the finish. This wine is utterly charming with underlying structure that has real weight and power.

Clyde Park Estate Pinot Noir 2007

Kemenys Price : $29.99
Kemenys Rating : 93/100
Value :

Tasting Note :

A complex array of dark berry fruits harmoniously melds with aromas of plums and black cherries. Subtle floral notes combine with spice, earthiness and toasty oak to fill out the nose. The palate is long and generous offering concentrated flavours of dark cherry, plum and spice, woven around toasty French oak. A complex mid-palate is supported by a framework of ripe silky tannins. Fresh acid structure provides balance and palate length.

Clyde Park Locale Pinot Noir 2008

Kemenys Price : $20.00
Kemenys Rating : 92/100
Value :

Tasting Note :

To our taste, this is a better wine than its more expensive brother. A generous pinot, with ripe plums, dark cherries and subtle gamey, savoury characters. Lively acidity, fine tannins and a generous length complete an attractive and complex pinot. Try this with duck, lamb or even pork.

De Bortoli Gulf Station Pinot Noir 2008

Kemenys Price : $14.00
Kemenys Rating : 91/100
Value :

Tasting Note :

"Australia's Yarra Valley and the nearby Mornington Peninsula are two of the southern hemisphere's prime pinot noir territories, and this excellent mid-range example from De Bortoli delivers the goods vintage after vintage. Just replacing the lovely 2007 in stores, the 2008 edition has the same winning formula of freshness and poise, allied to ripe, attractively full flavour. Brimming with smoky, swirling, tobacco and strawberry pulp aromas, there's a schisty, earthy edge and plenty of complexity. On the palate the fruit is intensely sweet - really pinging across the mid-palate with its concentration - and yet the spice, warm, truffle and woodsmoke complexity and structural line of the tannins and acidity never waivers. Truly great pinot at its price this, and i have to say it would be pretty damn good if it cost twice as much."

Escarpment Martinborough Pinot Noir 2008

Kemenys Price : $39.00
Kemenys Rating : 96/100
Value :

Tasting Note :

Escarpment sure know their way around pinot noir. Dark ripe
cherries, red savoury cherries and plums - a fleshy deeply coloured flavoured pinot with a sappy savoury bite. Lots of foresty and gamey goodness works it's magic with the structure held up by fine grippy tannins and fresh, clean acid. Any game, or maybe Italian veal dishes would be nice matches.
