The 2007 Chimney Brush chenin blanc is light straw in colour with brilliant clarity. The nose produces fresh fruit salad aromas comprising of red apples, young honeydew melon and tropical Asian fruits. Red apple, watermelon and young pear flavours can be tasted on the palate with sweetness balanced by the soft acidity which leaves a clean refreshing finish.

The nose exhibits primary fruit aromas of pear, honeydew melon, rock melon and honeysuckle with some lovely flinty mineral complexities. Elegantly and richly textured, intense flavours of melon, pear and citrus, meld with flinty mineral qualities that are traits of the Clyde Park vineyards. Some subtle oily texture is balanced by natural acidity leaving a crisp, full nutty finish.

This wine shows the subtle salmon colours that are characteristic of the variety, especially when made in a more Alsatian style. It has great fruit depth and a full body, with honey notes and bright fruit that nicely balances the natural acidity of the variety. It is a style to drink now.

The bouquet is of lemon peel, ginger, pear and fijoa. These crisp flavours of ginger and pear lead on to a soft mid palate and a finish of spice. The grapes for this wine were sourced from vineyards around the Marlborough region. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and blended with a touch of Gewurztraminer to enhance the fruit character.
