Value :

Tasting Note :
This wine is a deep ruby colour, with fresh purple tints. It displays classic black fruit and forest floor varietal characters complemented by soft, mocha oak flavours. The long, fruit driven palate and firm, ripe tannins make this an ideal wine for drinking now or for aging for two to three years.

RRP : $18.00
Kemenys Rating : 92/100

Awards

Tasting Note :
The wine is medium bodied - rich and smooth with delicious flavours of juicy plums, blackberry, licorice ad subtle a[icy apricot. This is a well integrated and balanced wine with grainy, textured tannins which persist well after the wine has been finished. The wine can be enjoyed now but will benefit from careful cellaring up to and possibly beyond 2015.

RRP : $15.00
Kemenys Rating : 91/100
Awards

Tasting Note :
Flavours of spice, plums and vanilla carry over from the bouquet. A generous wine with great acid balance, well integrated oak and silky smooth tannins which form a well structured wine with a soft persistent finish. Match with sirloin steak with garlic mash.

TIM ADAMS THE FERGUS GRENACHE 2005 750ML

Kemenys Price : $19.99
RRP   $23.99
Kemenys Rating   92/100
Value

Tasting Note :
The wine is predominately Grenache with small percentages of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec. All this adds up to a superb Rhone style which is full-bodied and soft. Fabulous with duck, turkey lamb and gamey meats. The grenache spiciness is given extra back palate astringency with the blending of the other more tannic red varieties. Certainly drinking beautifully now it will reward short term cellaring.

Trentham Petit Verdot 2006

Kemenys Price : $16.99
RRP : $19.00
Kemenys Rating : 90/100
Value :

Tasting Note :
An excellent "older"variety from Bordeaux where the grapes dark thick skins produce deeply coloured, spicy and fragrant wines. This wine shows dark vibrant red purple colour with fragrant berry fruits..
The palate is spicy, rich and full with fine tannins on the finish. Maturing in fine French oak for 13 months has given the wine a beautiful softness and great palate length. Perfect with beef or lamb dishes and it will improve in your cellar for the next 6 to 8 years.

Torbreck Barossa Valley "The Steading" 2005

Kemenys Price : $36.99
RRP : $42.00
Kemenys Rating
Value :

Tasting Note :
Deep ruby with flickers of violet, its delicate aromas of truffle, five spice and spring flowers are supported by a rich core of framboise, licorice, saddle leather and Provencal herbs. Very Burgundian' in style, the palate is elegant and pure with subtle notes of crushed cherries, earth and cedar all neatly wound by a taught spine of acidity and ripe supple tannins. The 2005 Steading will continue to unfold with time in the cellar & shall provide those with the patience great enjoyment for many years to come.

Torbreck The Factor 2004
Kemenys Price : $99.95
RRP : $145.00
Kemenys Rating : 95/100
Value :

Tasting Note :
"Made from 100% shiraz that spent 24 months in French oak (30% new), the exuberant, flamboyant 2004 The Factor offers up gorgeously pure blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with smoke, bacon fat, camphor, and graphite. Silky smooth, and as David Powell says, "the most Barossa-like" of all his wines, it represents Powell's rendition of a Cote Rotie. It can be drunk over the next 15-20 years."

Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, October 2006

Torbreck Juveniles ‘GSM’ 2007

Kemenys Price : $26.99
RRP : $35.00
Kemenys Rating
95/100
Value : f

Tasting Note :
A blend of 60% grenache, 20% shiraz and 20% mataro and made from fruit picked off 40 - 150 year old vines, it is a powerful, intense wine. Ripe berry and spiced cherry aromas lead to a fruit driven palate. There was no oaked used in the making of this wine so the fruit does all the talking. Berry and spicey, peppery characters are backed up by soft tannins giving a lasting finish. Another top red from Torbreck. Will reward cellaring.

Tscharke the Curse Zinfandel 2006

Kemenys Price : $34.99
RRP :
Kemenys Rating :
Value :

Tasting Note :
100% Zinfandel with a deep dark brick red colour. A lifted nose of ripe dense fruit and heady perfume. A powerful full bodied palate wrapped up in chalky but silky tannins. Concentrated flavours of mulberry, vanilla and subtle spice that offer a core of solid fruit that continues the length of the palate, and a lasting and persistent finish. Not a wine for shrinking violets with 15.8% alcohol. Drink now and over the next 3 years with a rump steak.

Tyrrell's Lost Block Shiraz Viognier 2005
Kemenys Price : $11.99
RRP : $14.99
Kemenys Rating 89/100
Value :
Awards

Tasting Note :

"A rather nice expression of this blend. Lifted floral aromas float across the savoury spice of shiraz. It's soft and warm with a pleasant easy drinking palate. All about fruit with a light earthy savoury character showing some floral characters on the nose. One for the short term."

Ray Jordan, The West Magazine

Virgin Hills 1998

Kemenys Price :$56.99
RRP : $58.00
Kemenys Rating : 89/100
Value : ff

Tasting Note :

"Virgin Hills holds a special place in the hearts of many wine lovers, ranking alongside such revered boutique labels as Lake's Folly, Mount Mary and Yarra Yering. Its Bordeaux-style labels of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, merlot and malbec have enjoyed cult status ever since the second vintage wine, the 1974, won a gold award at the prestigious 1981 International Wine and Spirit Competition in Bristol, UK. The new-release 1998 is the first to hit the market since Michael Hope took over and I think it will rank as one of Virgin Hills' best. It is a blend of 85% cabernet sauvignon, 10% malbec, 3% shiraz and 2% merlot and it packed with young, vibrant berry fruit flavour and promises to cellar beautifully over the next 15 years."

[John Lewis, The Newcastle Herald, 03/10/2001]

Wirra Wirra Church Block 2006

Kemenys Price :$15.99
RRP : $23.50
Kemenys Rating   90/100
Value : f

Tasting Note :

“This is one of the better v intages of Church Block. There’s more cabernet in the blend which adds plum and berry to the McLaren Vale chocolate. But it’s the depth, texture and softness of the tannins that seduce the drinker. It goes brilliantly with lamb.”

Greg Duncan Powell, Sydney Morning Herald, 23/02/2008

Tasting Note :
"This is the 30th vintage of Black Label, which has seen a significant change of style over the years, but is now better than ever. Very deep in colour, it is flooded with opulent, multi-layered fruits in a silky, sensual, supple texture, with seamless oak and tannins.96 points."

Kemenys Price : $12.99
RRP : $19.99
Kemenys Rating : 89/100
Value :

Tasting Note :

"Wynns Black label cabernet is legendary but this blend with shiraz and merlot has really picked up in recent years. The 2006 version is a sumptuous and full-bodied wine with layered blackcurrant and blackberry fruit with a hint of spice. And it will get even better with 5 years in the cellar."

Angus Hughson, The Daily Telegraph, 02/04/2008

"A joint venture between John Pargeter (vigneron), Ben Riggs (winemaker) and Zar Brooks (flamboyant marketer and inventor of the voluminous back label).  Vividly coloured, the wine has a soft,  lusciously sweet array of smooth and supple red and black fruits.   Delicious."
